Pirates in Paradise 2008 - Key West, Fl
Extra Page: Inside the Fort -Vendors and Such

Although there was a great deal going on in the encampment this year, the
fort was still a major hub of activity. All the vendors were located inside,
half of the battles took place inside (the British half for the most
part) and food was available for sale. It made for a nice diversion
for the pirates and the public.
There were also various displays like the fight circle, games for the
kids ("TREBUCHET!") and a lovely view of the park from the top
of the fort wall. The fort was under re-construction this year, which
you'll note in the photo at right - along the right hand side. Since this
area had been fenced off last year, being under repair was an
improvement.

Above left: the ticket booth for obtaining entry into the fort,
manned by the Bone Ilsand Buccaneers. Above right is the gateway the BI
Buccaneers built for the vent. Below left is Bawdy Be's Beg -n- Barter
shop. Below right is the Journal store featuring an assortment of
hand-made journals. I got a really cool one with pressed flora in the
pages to serve as my surgeon's journal. (Now I just need to come up with
something to write in it.)

Above left: the Catt and Fiddle, an al fresco dining
establishment courtesy of the Pirates of the Coast. That's Hurricane with
the guitar and the yellow hat and Diosa at far right in the shot. Above
right: the...uh..."sad" candle featured on the table at the
C&F. That happened at some event and they kept it because they found
it amusing. Below are some captured moments. From left: No Rum
Charlie's transport, in the center is what I think looks like a cheap and
painful way to get a vasectomy, at right is a wandering fort minstrel.

Extraordinaire Greg Hudson is hard at work on something or
another. Maybe another hangover. Below left: Sharon of the Sacred Heart crew

fine period wood furniture. Below right: John himself, in front of his wares.
